Apple is planning to expand its production in India, well… not planning they have already started to work with the current staffers, Wistron has begun the hunt for up to 10,000 more employees and begins manufacturing in October.

Well, the production plant is known as the Narasapura plant in Bengaluru. The construction of the plant was completed earlier in 2020.

Apple is making serious progress in extending its production footprint in India, and why wouldn’t they? It will help them bypass import duties and establish a much larger market presence in India and produce iPhones in a much larger quantity so that it costs competitively.

The iPhone 12 would be the 7th production from India but 1st to be the latest model. This will also Apple to move its reliance from China. This seems to be ‘One Arrow, Two Sparrow’ or what we usually say “Killing two birds with one stone”. which is good for Apple and for India.

Initiatives such as the “production linked incentive” (PLI) scheme have made India-based production attractive to big tech companies. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent “Made in India” initiative also requires 30 percent of products sold by foreign companies to be manufactured or produced within the country.
